Discourse about the role and contribution of the student movement (student movement) in the process pendewasan this nation has long been a central issue on various occasions. Although the role of the student movement has not become a transformational force in konfrehensif, but lacakan national history in Indonesia indicate that there is not one that does not involve any change in student strength. Students have become one of the icons of social change in the history of society, it is not excessive if the student was given the title "agent of social change." This confirms that the student movement has proven to be a catalyst that can not be trivialized for the creation of a massive popular movement against the tyranny of authoritarian rulers.
It's just that it must be admitted, the above historical facts entirely different from the reality we face today. Today the student movement is undergoing involution movement, as a result of battle pragmatic political interests and not terkonsolidasikannya student movement in guarding the process of democratic transition post-1998 reform movement. No wonder that this phenomenon be read as a slump or "death" of the student movement (the death of the student movement) in Indonesia. Even before the student movement that had united against the authoritarian regime of Soeharto, now also experiencing extraordinary polarization of the movement. The implication of this movement became fragmented, lost direction and lack of siapaan to respond to current issues and is unable to find a new reformulation in guarding the democratic transition today.
This condition is exacerbated by the entry of the student movement in the political spaces of practical (political desires of young people), who "killed" student idealism and materialism lead. As the demands to drop the president and presidential candidate carried the name with certain issues that are very thick with the feel of practical politics rather than a moral movement, without a real political rationalization. Such movement is not entirely wrong, but we agreed that the student movement is a moral movement. So the student movement must be consistent with the jargon and idealism diusungnya.
Placing the issue of practical politics as the basis for solidarity movement will make the student movement became faded and fragmentary. Therefore, the student movement must be returned in khitahnya as a rational moral movement. Do not let the student movement co-opted by a particular group or political party. Because if that's the case, it means that the student movement has been digging "graves" itself. No more people who believe in the student movement.

By taking inspiration from there, then the student can initiate the following steps: first, to review critical-reflective of societal problems. They should not only capture the surface symptoms, but rather on the disclosure of something behind the phenomena. Keep in mind here, that the student movement is not just movement for the change of regime. The student movement also has a vision of democratic transformation and continues to emphasize the act of "mass" organizations of farmers, workers, urban poor and continue to avoid the political elite. This reality should be a suggestion for students to continue to position themselves in the struggle and the defense of people who do not benefit from the prevailing system, the oppressed and marginalized communities (the mustadz'afin) who can not do anything to free themselves from such oppression.
