Lovers or Destroyer?...

Thick fog blanketed almost always Ranu Pani, Ranu Regulo, Ranu Darungan, and Ranu Kumbolo-area lakes in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park-in the morning. The cold morning to make people more comfortable curled up in sleeping bags.
Ranu or lake is usually crowded during the ascent to the Peak Mahameru during July to September. On the anniversary of Indonesian independence, more climbers visit. They want to follow the ceremony that has become a tradition among climbers.
When the fog began to disappear approximately at 07.30 on August 17, yesterday, the activities of climbers at Ranu Kumbolo began to appear. There are cooking, fishing, walking, to bathe in the cool lake water.
However, the beauty of the atmosphere itself tarnished by the behavior of climbers who do not understand about the environment. A number of climbers, including participants Jamboree Impressions Adventurers 2, brushing teeth at the edge of the lake. Kumuran water they throw into the lake. Some other climbers hand washing and bathing with soap. There is also a cooking utensil washing in a lake full of oil that makes the water look murky lake.
In addition to potentially pollute, it makes those who need water for cooking or drinking water can not take the place of bathing and washing. They should look for water in other parts of the lake is more clear. Such views not only happen in Ranu Kumbolo, but also at Ranu Pani and Ranu Regulo which is a camping area climbers. Improper behavior is also shown by other climbers.
Sadly again, around the lakes scattered leftovers, packing shampoo, soap, and food, even feces. If it were so, the question arises, what are they nature lovers, nature lovers, or destroyer?
Fortunately, not all climbers behave like that. There are climbers who know how to correct and wise use of lake water.
"Pollution of the lake is one threat to the existence of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park," said Head of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Subagiadi Herrera. Lake not only serves as a source of water, but also has the function of conservation as a water catchment area.
Some areas of Pasuruan, Probolinggo and Malang which includes River watershed (DAS) Brantas depend on Ranu Pani and Ranu Regulo. While the region Lumajang, Bondowoso, and that includes watershed Sampean Situbondo depend on Ranu Kumbolo Madura.
Threats to the lake not only pollution but also logging. Local residents often cut down trees to meet the demand for firewood for the climbers.
In fact, it is not hard to do good, there is already a written plea, "Do not take anything except pictures, do not leave nothing but footprints, and do not kill nothing but time." [KCM]
